I was watching TV recently and saw a very clever advert with the message, "Doing things differently leads to something exceptional." I don't actually remember what was being advertised. All I remember is the slogan and it struck a chord with me because it's not something we do every day is it?
If you're like me, you tend to go along doing the same old things in the same old way every day. We tend to think that because something works once, it will always work the same way. Or that plugging away at something and never giving up will be enough to make it work somehow.
Many of us say we want health, wealth, happiness and more. Then we go on to list other goals we may have that, when achieved, will help us to live a more positive and happier life. But we never seem to get around to doing (or thinking) anything different that could help us to realise our goals. Someone once said, "You may be on the right road but you'll get run over if you just sit there!" and I think they were right. We can't just say we want these things and then carry on thinking or doing things in exactly the same way that we have in the past.
After all, how can you do or think the same as you've always done and expect a different result? If you do or think what you've always done or thought, you'll get what you've always got. Makes sense, doesn't it? If you really want change, you have to make it happen. No one else can do it for you, you know.
Sometimes, however, it's not what to change or how to change it that's the problem. Sometimes it's that we're not fully commited to our dreams. Perhaps we don't really like change. Perhaps our dreams are not ours. Perhaps they're dreams that someone else would wish for us. Perhaps we simply don't think we have what it takes or we're scared of what success (or even failure) might bring.
There can be many different reasons why we're not achieving the goals and dreams we set ourselves. One thing's for sure though. We're not achieving them because we're blocking ourselves in some way. For whatever reason, we have decided that it's easier, safer, ______, (you fill in the blank) to stay where we are. After all, if we were a hundred percent behind our dreams, willing to do what it takes to achieve them and open to receiving them, they'd already be ours wouldn't they?
I did some work on my own dreams recently and came up with some interesting ideas. You can see the results of my thoughts, meanderings and wanderings in 'The Rainbows Guide To Releasing Your Blocks And Achieving Your Dreams.' It lists the ten most common blocks we put upon our own success and gives easy and practical examples of ways to release those blocks if we are willing. You can get your copy by following the link above or on the left.
Happy releasing! :))))
